SC+ song exercises

playing with words_song_vidSmartClass+, a digital language learning platform, offers language teachers several interesting exercise templates. Each exercise includes a media file (audio, video, text, picture), teacher’s instructions and a tool for students to interact with the presented topic. I want to introduce some of the exercise templates that support using songs in the language classroom. In the videos you can watch two different song-based exercises and their creation.

If your school is equipped with an SC+ digital language learning platform, do not hesitate to make these exercises available for students on their computers/tablets. If you do not have the opportunity to experience the SC+ system, feel comfortable just to get inspired.

If you are into the “songs in the classroom” topic, we recommend that you look at another article from the SmartClass Community site:

How to prepare digital content?

For demonstration purposes I have chosen the “Rolling in the Deep” song by Adele. But for your lesson, you are welcome to choose a different example and perhaps a different language.

To create the digital exercise, I need the song in a digital format (*.mp3, *.wav, *.aiff, *.wma). The song is available on, the largest community of artists, bands, podcasters and creators of music & audio. The song is a famous Adele cover performed by John Legend (you may know his “Who Did That To You” song from the DJANGO Unchained Sound Track). You do not violate any copyrights by its downloading because the author makes this version available for free.

Before I began the creation process, I downloaded some worksheets from the free printable worksheets database. You may need to create a personal account to download these materials.

SONG and Fill in the Blanks

In this video you can find out how to create the Fill in the Blanks exercise and make it available for students on their computers/tablets using the SC+ language learning platform.

SONG and playing with words

The following video will guide you step by step. Thanks to the SC+ language learning platform, your students will have access to this exercise on their computers/tablets.

Looking forward to your feedback.
