“What a refreshing week with our partner Grupo Arcotek in Peru, and my friends Anthony Arteaga and Martin Rosero. The highlights of my visit? Two great seminars in the city of Lima and Arequipa, where I had the chance to share ideas with passionate teachers about technology and language teaching. I won’t forget the discovery of the beautiful city of Arequipa, nor sharing great times eating peruvian gastronomy and Pisco sours with friends! Thanks guys, thanks to all teachers who shared their views about improving language teaching!”Yanick Demers

More notes from the journey:
Yanick Demers:
“Very unique opportunity to discuss about Teaching native language through technology, with passionate people! Last week, I met with Inti (means sun in Kitchwa) about the challenges to teach Kitchwa in remote ares of the country. The initial project is to build a database of digital contents-exercises, in order to qualify teachers and provide them with a basis to effectively teach Kitchwa in all corners of the country.
More than 2,5 millions uses Kitchwa decendent in Ecuador, Northern Peru and Colombia. But many of them have limited knowledge and need to be thaugh How to speak, read and write it. The challenge is even wider, as there is a lack of qualified teachers. There is not as much resources as for major language as Spanish or English.
SmartClass+ is seen as a good basis to start building – this was a preliminary meeting, but found the challenge really interesting!”
Yanick Demers:
“During my short stay in Chile, I have visited 5 schools across the Country from South, Central and North. We completed the tour in the Colegio Sagrados Corazones, La Serena – recently installed by Celestron team. The training is not yet completed, but amazingly the teachers are already at ease and build up an impressive basis of exercises! We explore through hands-on workshop the capabilities of the platform, with teachers and directors from another College from La Serena (Providencia). A warm thanks to all!”
Excellent blog! Do you have any suggestions for aspiring writers?
I’m hoping to start my own site soon but I’m a
little lost on everything. Would you propose starting
with a free platform like WordPress or go for a
paid option? There are so many options out there that
I’m completely overwhelmed .. Any tips? Cheers!
